About Ethan

Ethan Klapper
Ethan Klapper is a junior at American University in Washington, D.C., where he’s double majoring in journalism and political science.
Ethan’s path to journalism is an unlikely one — as late as high school, he hated writing. When he arrived in Washington in August 2007 to start his journey through college, he saw that The Eagle, AU’s student paper, was hiring an assistant Web editor. Ethan applied and was hired. Soon, he started writing for The Eagle and hasn’t looked back since. Later promoted to Web editor, he will soon enter his third year at the paper and will have one of the longest tenures there.
In addition to Ethan’s work at The Eagle, he’s also landed internships at mediabistro.com, The Washington Post and The Journal News, a daily broadsheet that circulates around 100,000 in suburban New York City.
Ethan has also provided technical assistance to ATV, AU’s student television station. He works primarily on their weekly news show, ATV News. Prior to starting college, Ethan interned twice and freelanced once for WRNN-TV, a market one independent television station in Rye Brook, N.Y.
Finally, Ethan’s newest project is the up-and-coming government 2.0 blog Social Government, which he started in January 2009. The rapidly-growing blog has attracted the eyes of many movers and shakers inside and outside of the Beltway.
